Biography
Sandra Preissig Bigner, M.D., is Professor Emeritus of Pathology at Duke University. Trained in medicine at the University of Tennessee and in neuropathology at Dartmouth, she built a research programme on the cytogenetics and molecular genetics of paediatric and adult brain tumours—including gliomas and medulloblastomas—publishing widely on chromosomal alterations and amplification events that underpin modern glioma taxonomy. She co-authored neuropathology chapters in Russell and Rubinstein's Pathology of Tumors of the Nervous System alongside Duke colleagues.
