Biography
Rob Potter (1950–2014) was a British development geographer whose research focused on urbanisation and development in the Caribbean and the wider Global South. He was Professor at Royal Holloway, University of London from 1993 and moved to the University of Reading in 2003, where he later headed the School of Human and Environmental Sciences. An Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences, he authored around 30 books and 250 articles, and was the founding Editor of Progress in Development Studies, which he launched with Hodder Arnold in 2001 and steered into the SAGE era after the 2006 transfer.
