Biography
John A. Matthews is Emeritus Professor of Physical Geography at Swansea University (University of Wales, Swansea), where he led a long research programme on the geo-ecology of glacier forelands, Holocene climate variability, and the 'Little Ice Age' glacier maximum in southern Norway. He founded The Holocene for Edward Arnold in 1991 and served as its Editor as the journal became the flagship interdisciplinary outlet for Holocene environmental change, carrying it through the Hodder Arnold years and the 2006 transfer to SAGE.
