Biography
Dame Ingrid Victoria Allen (1932–2020) was Professor of Neuropathology at Queen's University Belfast from 1979 to 1997, a pioneer of multiple-sclerosis pathology and neurovirology who demonstrated pathological changes in what is now termed 'normal-appearing white matter' in MS. She published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and was appointed DBE for services to medicine. In 1995, while at Queen's, she established the Multiple Sclerosis Journal for Edward Arnold and served as its founding Editor-in-Chief for five years before handing over to Donald Silberberg.
